Patara Fine Thai Cuisine, with an international presence in cities like London and Geneva, executes Thai with a modern twist. Smart offerings like lemon grass marinated NZ rack of lamb, Thai seafood bouillabaisse in coconut cream and galangal reduction served up on Benjarong tableware as well as its modern, comfy interiors up the ante of Thai fine-dining in Singapore.
When it comes to searching for a delicious and reputable Thai restaurant in Singapore, offering authentic dishes within a modern, comfortable atmosphere, the recommendations usually point towards Patara Fine Thai Cuisine in Tanglin Mall. Established in 1994, Patara remains a stalwart in the local Thai cuisine scene, celebrating the finest in Thai home-style cooking. Owned by Creative Eateries, a homegrown food and beverage group famed for restaurants such as Barossa, Al Dente Trattoria, Shabuya and Tajimaya, Patara was a result of a long-time association with S&P Global, an internationally renowned Thai food and beverage enterprise.
A meal at Patara isn’t merely about eating Thai food, but consuming subtle elements of its lifestyle and culture through sumptuous entrees with fiery flavors and a comprehensive menu of meats, curries, seafood and other delights. The tom yam goong for example, an iconic staple on any Thai
menu, is as authentic as it gets. Simmered with 21 herbs, the resulting broth is tangy and spicy, enhanced with fresh seafood, mushrooms and pieces of young coconut flesh. Another delicious favorite is the red curry with roast duck and seasonal fruits, featuring traditional Thai herbs.
Time-honored Thai options aside, the restaurant also offers some modern Thai dishes such as the porpia park ar, a signature appetizer known as Thai tacos, served with minced chicken, beansprouts, prawn and tofu. Another signature creation is the lemongrass marinated lamb rack, plated with green papaya salad, sweet rice rolls and laced with a spicy chili sauce. For vegetarians, the restaurant also offers a slew of vegetarian options, ranging from piquant papaya or green mango salads, to spicy soups with mushrooms, green curry with tofu and pineapple rice.
Heading the kitchen is Executive Chef, Khampuang “Lisa” Chimkit, who has been with the restaurant for 12 years. A Thai native, Chef Lisa expertise with Thai cuisine had resulted in her having the honour of being appointed the official chef for the Princess of Thailand and her royal escort during the princess’s visit to Singapore.
