Celebrating Mother’s Day at il Lido
First declared a holiday by the governor of West Virginia as a mark of respect to mothers who had lost their sons in the war, Mother’s Day is traditionally celebrated on the second Sunday in May. This year, make a point to show Mum how much she is appreciated and loved by treating her to brunch at il Lido.
Chef Gianluca Visani, il Lido’s executive chef, has chosen to feature dishes inspired by his mother’s home cooking in his Mother’s Day brunch menu. The wholesome, homemade stracci pasta topped with succulent veal shank and porcini mushrooms invokes a precious childhood memory for him as his mother used to make it for him as a special treat. The grilled pork loin with bell peppers and mustard sauce was also one of his mother’s specialties and was the one dish she would always contribute to their typically large Italian family dinners.
