Southbridge Jazz @ 7atenine
It’s all about great food, great music and great times in this partnership between 7atenine and Jazz@Southbridge, the city’s most vibrant jazz watering hole. Resident band Jazz@Southbridge will be playing every night, and will also bring in world-class acts like Ian Rapien. Diners hankering after Malaysian favourites are in for a good time. The all-new menu features the best from 7atenine Malaysia, from Asian favourites to tapas and Western mains. Tuck into sinfully delicious classics such as Char Kway Teow and Curry Laksa, all prepared and cooked in true blue Malaysian style. Of course, with Marina Bay as the backdrop, it’s a must to sit back at the chill out deck and enjoy their signature concoctions Chili Zing (42 below pure vodka, thai syrup, red chilli, lime) and Batida Morango (cachaca 51 rum, lime, monin strawberry syrup).

Esmirada at the Pier
Located at the quaint Robertson Quay, Esmirada at the Pier is reminiscent of a home-styled Greek taverna. Diners can still look forward to the best of Esmirada’s signature dishes from various countries such as Italy, France, Spain and Greece. The must-tries have got to be the Esmirada Skewers of meat, seafood and vegetables, as well as the Paella Espanola. We can also easily imagine ourselves settling in comfortably at the cosy outdoor courtyard while indulging in a selection of antipasti, salads and tapas with a glass of wine or Sangria.

The Muthu’s Flavours
Following the success of The Muthu’s Flavours at Dempsey Hill, it is no surprise that the team behind the established Indian restaurant Muthu’s Curry is quickly following up with another at 313 @ Somerset. The restaurant’s philosophy of refining the classics to suit today’s palate is clearly visible in the Tandoori Chicken that is served with crispy (and addictive) papadum ‘fries’, biryani rice and salad with their very own house dressing. What sets them apart from the other Indian dining is that the casual outlet portions the favourite Indian staples in individual sets, while being very friendly on the pockets.

Mair Vervena Venison from Vic’s Meat
Vic’s Meat Singapore, one of Singapore’s best purveyors of premium quality meats, has finally brought in the amazing Mair Cervena venison. This venison, naturally produced in New Zealand and processed in accredited plants of the highest quality, is definitely not your standard deer meat. Not only regarded as the pinnacle of quality and consistency in the venison market, it is fast gaining a fan-base thanks to its velvety texture and superb taste. Neither strong nor gamey, it is perfect with a subtle sauce or enjoyed on its own. Another tip: try it seared over fresh vegetables or grill it for fajitas, and always allow it to rest for a few minutes before serving.
Different cuts are available and prices range from $24-$67. For purchases or enquiries, please call Vic’s Meat at 6753 6900/8428 5664 or email order@vicsmeat.com.sg.
Roast at One Rochester
Executive chef Christopher Millar, who also owns modern Thai deli Sweet Salty Spicy, has taken over the kitchen of the One Rochester hotspot. Backed by his “no fussing about” cooking philosophy, the revamped menu features his version of rustic yet slightly modern cuisine that sidesteps the usual clichés. Also terming it as a “communal menu”, Chef Millar firmly believes that good food should always be shared with your loved ones. For example, the Nibble Platter holds an array of yummies like herb crumb stuffed olives and potato skins with thick sour cream and ocean trout caviar.
